Storie del vino in Palazzo Vecchio: arte, politica, gusto e società = Stories of wine in Palazzo Vecchio : art, politics, taste and society

di Elisabetta Stumpo, Valentina Zucchi

This volume allows the reader to discover the history of Palazzo Vecchio and its art by using a special key of interpretation, one which shows how viticulture, wine production and wine consumption, and trade have been of utmost importance for the lords of Florence and for the city's government from the Middle Ages right up to the present, focusing especially on the Medici era. The paintings, sculptures, and decorations of the civic palace of Florence thus become precious elements with which to read the political, economic, and social history of the city and its surrounding landscape. They tell a story marked by good taste and closely connected to the history of wine, which accompanies and brightens all our lives. Texts by Massimo Montanari, Valentina Zucchi, Elisabetta Stumpo, Zeffiro Ciuffoletti, Giovanni Cipriani, Francesco Martelli, and Anna Maria Pult Quaglia.
