LIBRO
Pt. 1 (pp. 27-155) analyzes the racial policy of the Nazi regime. Describes concentration camps, focusing on Auschwitz as the prototype for Germanization in the East. Asserts that, for the first time in history, a state sought to reorganize society on a racial basis, pursuing the annihilation of entire ethnic groups in order to preserve the purity of its own. States that the genocide was a large-scale modern project of social engineering, made possible only by the contributions of industry, state bureaucrats, the army, and scientists. Pt. 2 (pp. 159-193) deals with the fascist repression of the Italian Jews and the antisemitism of the Repubblica Sociale Italiana (RSI). Mentions factors which might have influenced the stance of the fascists toward the Jews after the invasion of Ethiopia. Chronicles the Racial Laws. Describes the camp of Ferramonti di Tarsia and other camps built and developed under the RSI. Pp. 197-228 contain, mainly, official decrees regarding the persecution of Jews in Germany and Italy.
